Oregon Underwater Volcano Exploration Team (OUVET)

Summer 2009 Workshop!

Thanks to a partnership with The Oregon Consortium & Oregon Workforce Alliance (TOCOWA), the LBCC ROV team will be spending July and August of 2009 exploring the unique underwater volcanic geology of Newberry Caldera in Central Oregon. Utilizing teams of high school students and young adults from all around Oregon our student-designed and manufactured underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles will investigate underwater volcanic features that have never before been fully explored or explained.

“Have you ever looked at a lake and wondered what was beneath its dark waters?

Are you curious about the mystery of volcanic eruption and activity, its creative and destructive energies?

Maybe you’re interested in mechanics and extreme vehicles?

Do you enjoy being outside, active and on the go?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like, to be that somebody who discovers something new?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then we want you!”
…forms and details

Participating high school students will gain training in electronics, physics, geology, communication and teamwork while the people of Oregon will benefit by gaining more information on one of the geologic wonders of our great state.
